Port of Fleetwood
The marina slipway
Marina customers may use the slipway. They use it entirely at their own risk.
The condition of the slipway
Why it is used at your own risk
That is not a form of words. This slipway was built to take a cradle hauled by a steam winch. Neither the cradle nor the winch is there any more. The rails they ran on still are.
There may be other damage and obstructions, on the slipway and in the water at the foot of it, that you will not see from the top.
The notice that applies
Fleetwood Local Notice to Mariners 017 of 2023, dated 30/10/2023, sets out the position and it remains in force. Current notices are listed on the Fleetwood notices to mariners page.
Before you use it
- Walk down and look at it on a low tide before you commit a boat and a trailer to it.
- Work on the basis that the rails are there, because they are.
- Do not assume the surface below the waterline is clean or even.
- Satisfy yourself that your vehicle and trailer will get the boat back up before you put it in.
